I'm just half way through, and I have to say this is an excellent course. Fernando is a very thorough teacher, the pronunciation lessons are particularly good. It's important to read the notes associated with each lesson, otherwise you may think he goes too fast. The notes explain and help to consolidate what you've just learned. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to speak or at least read Brazilian Portuguese quite well by the time I have to conduct a wedding in this lovely language!

This method is very impressive and very effective. There is just the right amount of grammar and phonetics that one needs to learn and progress in Brazilian Portuguese. The lessons are not too long, not too short - just the right length. Most importantly, they cover the basic situations one needs to master to become functional in Brazil. Each lecture comes with provide the student with a useful reference on relevant grammar, basic terminology, and cultural commentaries where apprpriate. I found this course to be extremely easy to follow and easy to learn. Maybe I had a distinct advantage as a native Spanish speaker, however, the lectures and the order in which they were put together seemed very logical to me. I was able to apply what I learned during my recent trip to Brazil. I wish all language courses followed a similar format to Fernando's course. My name is Fernando, and I’m a Brazilian Portuguese teacher, translator, and interpreter based in London, UK. I was born in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. After graduating from university, I first visited London as a tourist and loved it so much that I returned to train professionally in teaching, translation, and interpreting.

Fernando is a great teacher!
Having completed the entire Portuguese course in Duolingo at the end of this past year, I began looking for other ways to continue my learning. I thought this course would mainly be some review for me, but I’ve enjoyed learning so much! Fernando is an excellent teacher and clearly explains all the concepts, and his visual aids are excellent. Duolingo does a good job at getting you to practice, but it doesn’t teach you the how’s and why’s. Thankful for the excellent explanations in this course!

I love this course. The course is nicely indexed, and each section has not only a video explanation but also a PDF which covers the content of the video and more. You will learn the pronunciations and the basics rules. The course can be used as a reminder or quick lookup of topics and as an everyday refresher. The course covers a surprising amount of content, over 48 lessons.

Great course for ALL levels - beginners to advanced!
I am really enjoying - and learning from - Fernando's course! I speak fluently but have never studied Portuguese formally, and the step-by-step approach and detail provided has been really helpful for me to deepen my understanding of Portuguese. My kids are just beginning and the lessons are small enough chunks that they can stay focused long enough and retain a lot of what they are learning. I especially love the focus on pronunciation and explaining how certain sounds differ from English or what might be challenging for English speakers; that has helped my kids immensely. Highly recommended whether you're just learning or need to brush up on your current skills.
